What is Viscoelastic?

Viscoelastic is a unique material originally made by Nasa. Visco meaning its viscosity and ability to be able to mold or contour around your body.

How does it help back pain?  What this unique memory foam does is it contours around the curves of your body - so some parts of your body would sink into the mattress while other parts such as the curve of your back gets supported from the elasticity of the foam. Thus putting your spine in a more natural position causing stress points to virtually disappear.
 

Is a mattress topper as good as a memory foam bed?  Unfortunately nothing replaces a memory foam bed.  A bed is generally designed with two layers of foam. A memory foam and a more non-viscous foam underneath, each serving a function as part of the mattress. You will still find a topper or pad considerably more comfortable as it will still help to ease aches and pains compared to a spring mattress.

What should you look for in a memory mattress? Although there are many companies that sell memory foam due to its popularity, be aware that not all are created equal. Some companies make it with different blends causing different densities or levels of firmness. You should also stick with the name brands as you can be assured of quality. As well, these reputable companies will stand by their warranties giving you excellent coverage.

Is the weight of the foam important? Yes. Most quality foam mattresses are 5lbs or greater density per sq. ft. the greater the weight the greater the elasticity of the foam. We are talking about quality here although it may cost more you will be better off in the long run.

How much can I expect to pay?  There are many sellers of memory mattresses that have popped-up, so they can very depending on quality. Expect to pay over $1,000 dollars for twin and up to $3,000 and up for a king size mattresses.
