Swedish Foam Mattress where it was perfected

The original makers of the Swedish foam mattress was Tempur. How it is related by the general public as Swedish originates from the fact that it was a Swedish company called Fagerdala World Foams (FWF) that began doing research and development beyond what NASA did with their viscoelastic foam. FWF took what NASA created and developed a foam that was commercially useful for consumers. It was a product that was temperature sensitive, breathable, and durable, all of which are attributes that a mattress had to have. After testing their product in hospitals, the results were astounding. The Swedish mattresses were found to relieve bed ridden patients' aches and pains such as bed sores and back pain.  Patients were reporting a comfortable and relaxing sleep for the first time.

This trial success translated into FWF deciding to commercially market the foam mattress calling it Tempur in association with the unique temperature sensitive qualities it had.

In the early 1990's this Swedish foam mattress company marketed its mattress known as the Tempurpedic mattress throughout Sweden with excellent results. Consumer feedback was positive and foam mattress sales were phenomenal. What was soon to follow was the introduction of their foam mattress to the North American market. Since then, the Tempurpedic mattress has become one of the top selling memory foam mattresses worldwide.
